Environment and Health 2010
A joint report by JRC and EEA on environment and human health in Europe. The report is an update and an extension of the EEA/JRC report 'Environment and Health' (EEA Report 10/2005) issued in conjunction with the EEA State of the Environment Report, 2005 (SOER 2005).
The 2005 report ‘Environment and Health’ was produced at the time of the beginning of the EU Environment & Health Action Plan 2004-2010, and focused on the four priority diseases identified through the SCALE process.
The current report looks across a range of environmental risk factors and conditions relevant to human health, addressing also new areas in Environment and Health, such as climate change, new and emerging technologies (nanotechnology), and linkages between ecosystem integrity and human health and well-being. The report connects to several policy processes in the EU, such as the 6th Environmental Action Program, the EU Environment & Health Action Plan, REACH, the Commission White Paper on Adapting to Climate Change, as well as to the pan-European WHO CEHAPE process, and major global initiatives, including Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, and the 4th Assessment Report of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
