This report covers the national situations in the 15 EU Member States and Norway for the calendar year 1998. The document can gives an overall view on monitoring of pesticide residues. Each Member State and Norway was invited to contribute a short national statement (in English) for inclusion in this document. More detailed information about the situation in individual countries is available from the respective national monitoring authorities and should be requested from them. The issue of pesticide residues in foodstuffs of animal origin, as regulated in Council Directive 86/363/EEC 1 , is not covered by this report.
