News Call for Papers: Managing Business Processes for Corporate Sustainability

BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT JOURNAL ISSN: 1463-7154 Call for papers: A Special Issue On MANAGING BUSINESS PROCESSES FOR CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY Corporations are now re-examining their corporate responsibilities and are beginning to integrate sustainability principles into their business strategies and policies. The rationale for this integration is that businesses increasingly recognise that sustainability is an integral part of good business and affects the bottom line and long term profitability. Corporate sustainability requires companies to address the issues of economic prosperity, social equity and environmental quality simultaneously. No individual company can be fully 'sustainable' within an unsustainable economic system. Managing for long-term success requires a full integration of the principles of sustainability into an organization's business processes. Working towards the goal of sustainability is a complex journey in which different process concerns may be emphasized at different phases. Papers are invited for a special issue of the Business Process Management Journal (BPMJ) on 'Managing Business Processes for Corporate Sustainability'. The aim of the theme is to publish original works that reflect how sustainability is operationalising in organisations. Papers are welcome on the theoretical aspects of corporate sustainability as well as those corporate case studies. Papers are encouraged from both the academic and business communities. Contributed papers may deal with, but are not limited to: Conceptual and Analytical Models of Sustainability. Life Cycle Assessment. Management for Sustainability and the Role of Systems and Standards. Stakeholder Outreach: Managing Strategic Alliances and Outsourcing for Corporate Sustainability. Strategic Frameworks for Operationalising Sustainability. Supply Chain Reengineering For Sustainable Development. Sustainability Indicators: Measurement Systems and Performance Frameworks for Sustainability. Sustainable Production. Tool and Techniques for Corporate Sustainability. Tools and Techniques to Develop Product and Process Stewardship. Triple-Bottom Line Integration. A 500-word abstract should be sent, "for guidance on appropriateness", to Guest Editor, Chris Seow by e-mail: seow@btinternet.com . The abstract must be embedded into e-mail message and not attached. Closing date for receipt of abstract is 14 January 2003. Preliminary notification of acceptance will be by 14 March 2003. Full papers should be 3000-5000 words in length, single-spaced, full justified, and in A4 Word format submitted electronically to Chris Seow by 26 September, 2003. Reviews of the submitted manuscripts will proceed in accordance with BPMJ's editorial policy (http://www.emeraldinsight.com/journals/bpmj/notes.htm).
