The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and the Indian European Ecodesign Programme are hosting a two-day International Conference on Ecodesign on 26th – 27th November 2002 at New Delhi.

The Indian European Ecodesign Programme (IEEP) is a three-year joint collaboration between Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and INETI, Portugal. The programme aims to promote Ecodesign in India and develop capability among Indian companies, design professionals, engineers and universities. The development of the Ecodesign Network through exchange of knowledge and experiences in Ecodesign is one of the main activities of the EU-funded IEEP.

Other activities under the IEEP are research in Ecodesign, student projects, Ecodesign workshops, development of Ecodesign learning and information tools such as CD-ROMs and an Indian Ecodesign website.

One of the final activities of the project is an International Ecodesign Conference. The objective of the conference is to heighten the awareness of all stakeholders in the field of Ecodesign and to engage them in evaluating environmental challenges and developing strategies for a sustainable future. The conference will also showcase Ecodesign projects undertaken by the stakeholders (Corporate, NGOs and other organizations).

The two days will be devoted to presentations of case studies and other research related to: · Waste Minimization & Recycling · Sustainable Transport · Sustainable Tourism · Ecodesign in Engineering and Practice · IT & Sustainable Solutions · Corporate Social Responsibility · Product Services East-West Sustainable solutions · Ecodesign Methodology and Education.
