Towards Leadership Code

A Code and Workshop for the Assessment of Corporate Sustainability Agendas

THE CODE

The role and structure of business has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. No longer focussed solely on profit creation, businesses have started to evolve with an increasing focus on the broader issues of social responsibility and, more specifically, sustainability.

Currently, business must collate information from a wide variety of sources such as legislation, standards, guidelines, research, and surveys of attitudes and values. This makes it very difficult to establish clear goals to monitor and measure success.

In an innovative partnership, ENERGEX and the Banksia Environmental Foundation have developed and released a Towards Leadership Code. The purpose of the Code is to provide criteria to set and assess the corporate sustainability agenda. It has equal application to the government and non-government sectors.

The response to the Towards Leadership Code has been excellent with requests for the Code both nationally and internationally. If you require a copy of the Code (its free), please email peterwhite@energex.com.au and a copy will be emailed to you.

The HANDOVER WORKSHOP

An important aspect of the release of the Code is the presentation of a Handover Workshop to allow the user of the Code to understand both the content and intent and, in the process, obtain maximum value from applying the Code. The Workshop is being presented by two of the principal authors of the Code, Joanne Cain (URS Environmental Strategist) and Peter White (ENERGEX Environment Manager)

The response to the workshop is very positive with a range of government and business sectors being represented.
