IAIA04: Impact Assessment for Industrial Development: Whose Business is it?
24th Annual Meeting of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA)
26-29 April 2004
Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
The private sector is becoming the main driving force behind projects. As a result, it has become a critical player in impact assessments. Increasingly, it is the private sector people who design, fund, implement and follow up on impact assessments.
How have industry, commerce and finance contributed to impact assessment in the past? How might their roles change as impact assessment evolves in the future? What models do we have for an innovative private sector involvement in the IA community? What has the private sector learned that might help the IA community to become more efficient and effective in its work?
The Vancouver Conference will focus on the role of the private sector in impact assessments, including implications for improving the professional practice and processes of impact assessment. The IAIA04 conference event offers an opportunity for experts, decision makers, industry, and professionals of different visions and expertise to explore this issue.
Papers, posters, and workshops are invited by 15 October 2003 on all aspects of the conference theme. For submission instructions or more information on IAIA04, please visit our web page or contact Bridget John at bridget@iaia.org or +1.701.297.7908.
