News International Conference on Integrating Organic Agriculture and Entrepreneurial Education

The Paraguayan Development Foundation invites you to participate in the First International Conference on Financially Self-Sufficient Schools, December 4-6, 2007, in Cerrito, Paraguay.

The conference’s theme, "Integrating Entrepreneurship into Agricultural Education" emphasizes the importance of sustainable rural development and features innovative approaches of educators and social entrepreneurs from around the globe.   The conference will be held on the campus of the world’s first “self-sufficient organic farm school” so that participants can see first-hand how this ground-breaking model affords rural youth a viable route out of poverty by providing agricultural and entrepreneurial education.

The Paraguayan Foundation recently presented this proven model of “Education That Pays For Itself” at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative.  Click here to view the Foundation’s Commitment to Global Education.

The conference will bring together up to 100 delegates – including educators, development practitioners, academics, international institutions, & donors – in the first event dedicated to this bourgeoning field that is transforming traditional approaches to education. Leading practitioners from Benin to Bolivia will share:

  1. How to provide high quality education without high fees
  2. How to finance improved facilities without outside support
  3. How to teach young people to succeed as social and environmental entrepreneurs
  4. How to empower future generations to break out of the poverty trap
