At AASC's invitation, Mr Barroso attended the Assembly's 12th meeting hosted by the EMCDDA in Lisbon on 30 and 31 October 2006. He underlined the importance the Commission attaches to the work carried out by European Agencies and said that he is ready to defend the status of European officials in general, including those that do not yet have permanent contracts which is the case of 80% of the staff in the Agencies. Mr Barroso underlined his deep commitment to social dialogue.
