Project aim: Aim of the project is to produce a challenging and long-term vision to support the formulation of Research agendas for Environmental Sustainability. Project report: Literature review of EU foreseight studies and networks and megatrends of reserach foresight drivers Project Objectives: The objectives of this EEA project initiated by the EEA Scientific committee are to: review existing research foresight initiatives within the STEEP framework (Social, Technollogy, Economy, Environment, Policy) analyse mega trends, uncertainties and surprises of relevance for exploratory research; produce a research outlook with a long term perspective (20 years) based on a judgement of experts within and outside the EEA scientific committee, also based on EEA assessments and outlooks, and; clarify and demonstrate the importance of such research outlooks for EEA integrated assessments. The project will make a contribution to the Bridging the gap conference during the Slovenian EU Presidency Spring 2008 Project outputs will include: The evidence base for the projects analysis will include EEA's own integrated assessments and outlooks, ongoing foresight studies mainly financed by DG research, science and policy reviews; modelling studies; and the result of expert consultation Visions of the future - underpinned by an understanding of the key drivers Analysis of policy options for key challenges A plan of action to take forward the findings of the project involving leading stakeholders.
